Population density and age structure

Definition : Population density (inhabitants per km²) and age structure (proportion of the age class older than 60 to the age class younger than 20) of the residential population.
Description : Population density and age structure are a measure of population requirements for resources, infrastructure and space in coastal areas. The proportion of youngsters (age class 0-20) and elderly people (age class 60+) are relevant indicators of the age structure of a population. Age structure can be regarded both as a driver for economic activity as well as an indicators of impact of a given sectoral policy (e.g. Through age specific in-migration in coastal zones)
